The 3 days Rwanda wildlife safari is the most exciting trip you will ever have for a life time. The trip takes you to Akagera national park for a wide range of game like the rare Masaai Giraffes, zebra, buffaloes, elephants, leopards, lion, spotted hyena and several antelopes like the oribis. Akagera Park is located in the North east of Rwanda at the border with Tanzania a 2 and half hours’ drive from Kigali town.
Day 1: Drive to Akagera National Park
You will be picked from the airport by our shoebill safaris guide and you start your journey North East of Rwanda to Akagera National Park. If time allows you will have a stop over to see the Imigongo Cow-Dung paintings made by the kakira women Co-operative at Nyakarambi village. These beautiful paintings are used to decorate houses due to their vibrant red and white colors. You will later proceed to Akagera national Park arriving late in the evening for lunch, dinner and overnight at Ruzizi tented Camp(luxury), Akagera game Lodge(midrange).
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise at Akagera National Park
After the morning breakfast, go for the stimulating morning game drive in the savanna landscape of Akagera national Park. Look out for a wide range of game including the Masaai giraffe, leopards, lions, Buffaloes, Impalas, bushbucks and the rare Semi-Aquatic Sitatunga can also be found in this Park. Keen birders will spot several birds as the park is also a rich birding spot with over 500 bird species.
Return to the lodge for lunch and go for boat cruise at the largest lake in Rwanda lake Ihema for another great game viewing moment. The lake has the largest concentration of Hippos and crocodiles, herds of elephants, Buffaloes and other animals that you may have missed on game drive are seen coming to cool off the hot weather on the lake. Return to the lodge later for dinner and overnight. at Ruzizi tented Camp(luxury) or Akagera game Lodge (midrange)
Day 3: Return to Kigali
After morning breakfast, drive back to Kigali enjoying the beautiful landscape in Rwanda’s countryside. Visit the Gisozi genocide site to learn about the history of Rwanda’s mass killings that lead to the death of 80,000 people in 1994. You will then proceed to the airport for departure.
