16 DAYS GORILLA AND GAME VIEWING

Day 1: Arrival- Kampala/Entebbe

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet your local Shoebill guide and transfer to your hotel in Either Entebbe or Kampala. Depending on your time of arrival, optional birding orientation at Botanical gardens. There are various beautiful bird species here, if you are a keen birder. Monkeys and other wildlife are visible as well. Not forgetting the cool breeze from Lake Victoria.  Lake View Guest House Hotel.

Day 2: Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast begin the journey to Uganda’s most beautiful protected Park, Murchison Falls. Stop over Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking in Masindi, lunch and proceed to Murchison Falls N.P.  Possible pass via top of the falls for a scenic view of the falls from above.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park

After a rather early breakfast, we go for a morning game drive for chances of featuring several wildlife of this Park. Notable are elephants, giraffes, lions, hartebeests and many more. There are various birds too here. Return to the lodge later, relax and chat the midmorning away. After lunch, launch cruise on the Nile. There are several hippos and crocodiles among other game. On a lucky day you might see the Shoebill/s from which our company derives its name.  Top of the falls hike.

Day 4: Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, morning game walk with the ranger for another exciting game viewing on foot. Explore the beauty of the park on foot. Afternoon boat cruise to the Delta, possible evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at Murchison River Lodge B-L-D)

Day 5: Murchison Falls

After an early cup of coffee or tea, with packed breakfast we go for a morning game drive.We will have a bush breakfast and spend time driving in the park for more chances of seeing the big game, there are various bird species if you love birds. We will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch just relax and enjoy the lodge.

Day 6: Murchison Falls- Budongo Forest National Park

After breakfast we drive to Budongo forest located just within Murchison Falls.  This is another exciting adventure. Upon arrival treat yourself to this remarkable walk, meet the real cousins of human beings. Did you know Chimps share 98.7% genes with human beings? Spend some time with these gentle giants.  Enjoy this green forest that is a home to various bird species and monkeys.

Day 7: Budongo Forest- Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast we depart from Budongo Forest to Fort Portal with lunch en route. Various stopovers to catch up with the beautiful landscapes. Optional visit to one of the local homes to equip yourself with the day today life of the local people here and also to support the community. Proceed to Fort Portal. Day 8: Kibale Forest National Park.

After breakfast morning time free time for relaxation. After lunch spend the afternoon exploring the crater area. Evening visit the tea estates.

Day 9: Kibale Forest National Park

Whole day exploring various crater lakes, and sites like Mabere ganyinamwiru, Tooro Kingdom palace, royal tombs and more.  The scenery around this place breath-taking. Fort portal is one of Uganda’s best kept and clean towns with natural landscapes. The climate is fascinating.

Day 10: Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast transfer to Queen Elizabeth national Park. The landscape along the route is breath taking. It’s characterized by crater lakes, small lakes and rolling hills. On a clear day you will see the snow-capped Mt. Rwenzori National Park. Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Evening game drive.

Day 11: Queen Elizabeth National Park

A rather early cup of tea or coffee, with our packed breakfast we head to the Uganda Kobs mating ground. Look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals in their natural habitat.  Lion tracking. This will be probably the chance of a life time you are looking for. Getting as close to the lion as possible. Afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga Channel, a natural channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. There is vibrant wildlife species here like elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores.

Day 12: Queen Elizabeth– Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

After breakfast, morning game drive around Ishasha area for chances of tree climbing lions and other game. Picnic lunch and proceed to Bwindi, a home to the endangered Mountain gorillas arriving in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ride for a woman guest House B-L-D)

Day 13: Gorilla tracking

The highlight and probably the most memorable moment of your safari is meeting the gentle forest giants of Bwindi, the gorillas! Expect to walk a reasonable distance in steep and sometimes muddy trails in this beautiful Forest before you encounter gorillas. However, the walk is worthwhile as you watch the family eat, play and rest typical of a family human setting. The silverback will constantly remind the babies to behave. Evening community walk, there are several craft shops where you can get authentic souvenirs.

Day 14:  Bwindi Impenetrable- Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, we depart for Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest lake in Africa. Relax the evening away or go for a canoe trip and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Day 15: Lake Bunyonyi

Whole day free relaxing or explore the island on the canoes. Optional hikes to the Batwa community or nearby schools, swimming or canoeing.

Day 16: Lake Bunyonyi- Entebbe

After breakfast begin the journey back to Entebbe. Picnic lunch at the Equator. Several craft shops here also make souvenir shopping much easy and fun.

Enjoy the experience of a life time at the Equator. Take a moment and stand at both the Southern and Northern hemispheres.  Continue to Entebbe arriving in the afternoon. Freshen up drive to the airport for a flight back home or overnight.
